Smoked salmon statuettes and 3D desserts: what Brad and co will dine on this year

As the Oscars countdown continues, film fans have been given a sneak peak at the delicious treats Brad Pitt and co will be dining on at the Governors Ball which follows the ceremony.

Chef Wolfgang Puck (below) – conjuring up an Academy Awards afterparty menu for the 18th year in the row – presented his 2012 offering this week.

There are more than fifty dishes for the VIP guests to enjoy, from one-bite hors d’oeuvres to small-plate entrees.

Tasty treats on offer include Wolfgang's signature smoked salmon Oscars, chicken pot pie with shaved black truffles, lobster tacos with tomato and pickled shallots, and beet salad with pistachio butter, burrata and citrus balsamic.

Pastry Chef Sherry Yard’s gold-dusted chocolate Oscars will appear alongside a surprise sweet which pays homage to the future of Oscar in 3D.

Any leftovers after the big night will be given to food donation charity Angel Harvest.

“We are so excited to help create a new energy for the Governors Ball this year,” said Wolfgang.

“With fantastic California ingredients, a few luxuries, and some favorite comfort foods, there will truly be something for everyone, and inspiration for anyone hosting a party at home.

"We are happy to celebrate Hollywood’s brightest stars and most accomplished artists with our culinary artistry.”
