Oscars 2013: Anne Hathaway chooses Prada dress just 'three hours' before ceremony
"I didn't know what I was wearing until three hours ago!" Anne Hathaway revealed as she took to the Oscars red carpet in a beautiful Prada creation.
"I was working too hard!" she laughed. "This was the one that spoke to me in the end. I like it."
The duchesse satin backless column gown accentuated her gentle curves, with her side-swept hairdo completing the look.
The Les Miserables star spoke about her Oscars nod, saying: "I'm just overjoyed, it's a blessing. It's as simple as that."
She revealed that marrying her love Adam Shulman has been the most important development in her life: "I guess it really all beings with getting married. I found my soulmate and we committed ourselves to each other and it's just the best thing ever. All of this has been the cherry on top of a wonderful, wonderful dish of vegan ice cream."
Anne took to the stage during the ceremony to perform the song I Dreamed a Dream from the hit movie Les Miserables with her fellow costars.
Other stars oozed classic Hollywood glamour, including Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain. "I chose it because I'm such a fan of movies," she said. "When I saw this, I thought it was a very 'Happy Birthday Mr President' kind of dress."
She also revealed that she had spent a considerable amount of time making the all-important dress decision. "I saw a lot of dresses," she said. "It was a very tough decision."
The gorgeous blush haute couture number was the perfect shade for the actress, whose auburn locks and bold red lipstick clashed brilliantly with the peach hue. Side-swept curls and dazzling diamond earrings completed the look.
The Master star Amy Adams looked like a fairytale princess in a dove grey Oscar de la Renta gown that featured a flowing, ruffled train.
And Reese Witherspoon showed off her enviable post-pregnancy physique in a cobalt blue Louis Vuitton gown that she chose with the help of her 13-year-old daughter, Ava. "My daughter and I picked it out," she said. "She makes sure she likes everything and she picks the jewellery and the make-up."
