Jessica Chastain reveals grandmas tears at OscarsHollywood star Jessica Chastain has revealed that her most memorable part of the Oscars ceremony was watching her grandmother's emotional reaction to the show. The Zero Dark Thirty star, who was nominated for the Best Actress, took her grandmother Marilyn to the awards ceremony at Los Angeles Dolby Theatre.
"There was a special moment the other night," she wrote in a Facebook post. "While watching Barbra Streisand sing Memories I looked over at my grandma and she had tears in her eyes. It was wonderful to be there with her, watching her favourite singer perform her favourite song."

It was Marilyn who had encouraged Jessica's interest in acting, taking her to see a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat when she was seven years old. When Jessica accepted the 2013 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, she struggled to contain her tears. "I have to thank my grandmother for always teaching me to believe in my dreams," she said. "This is an absolute dream come true". Jessica also took her to the Oscars ceremony in 2012.
While the flame-haired actress took Marilyn to the ceremony, she does have a man in her life, Gian Luca Passi, an Italian-born executive from French fashion brand Moncler. "They've been dating seriously for a while now and Gian really likes her," said a source.
Katie Couric recently asked Jessica whether she had a boyfriend. "I do," replied the Help star. "I have a rule that I don't date actors so he's not in the business at all."
Jessica, 35, was raised in Northern California by her mother, a vegan chef and her fireman stepfather. Her biological father Michael Monasterio died on 5 February, and his memorial service was held on the same weekend as the Oscars. Jessica did not attend the service.
"He is not on Jessica's birth certificate," a source told the Daily News. "There are no photos of Jessica and Michael together. Given all the facts, there are no plans to attend."
