Ellen DeGeneres' best moments

Ellen DeGeneres on hosting duty at the 2014 Oscars means guaranteed laughs. Her last outing at the Academy Awards was hilarious for the way in which she gently sent up the Hollywood elite.

In 2007, Ellen had the audience in stitches by stepping out on stage in a costume that paid homage to Bjork's 'swan dress' the previous year.

The funny lady then wandered through the auditorium chatting to luminaries who could be seen viewing her approach with slight trepidation.

She presented Martin Scorsese with a script that she told him was a cross between "Goodfellas and Big Momma's House. It's called Good Mommas," she told the giggling director.

Tough guy Clint Eastwood wasn't spared the treatment either. Seeing her coming over to him, the celebrated actor/director asked: "Have you got a script for me too? You gave Marty one."

 


Actually she wanted her picture taken with him. Ellen then looked around for someone to take the photo, before spotting Steven Spielberg. As he snapped a pic of the duo, she pretended not to like the results, giving the award-winning director tips on how to centre the image.

But the highlight of the evening had to be when she started running a vacuum cleaner round the hall in the middle of the gala.

In the course of her career, she's also challenged Michelle Obama to a push ups contest, serenaded Gwyneth Paltrow with strippers and got Justin Theroux break dancing.
